Patrick St. Germain

Patrick St. Germain was born in Montreal, Quebec, where he graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts. His interest in art began at an early age during a visit to New York City’s Museum of Modern Art and he soon afterward began maturing his talent on canvas. His paintings were predominantly urban abstract, inspired by the works of Jean Michel Basquiat and Francis Bacon.

Always versatile and ready for new experiences, Patrick backpacked and went on climbing expeditions in various Canadian National Parks, which motivated his developing style of landscape painting. Using a great depth of field in his work, a sense of solitude and tranquility is conveyed by isolating the viewer from the background. This is also reinforced through the usage of impasto in the foreground and watercolor techniques in the background.
